As I promised, there would be follow up on one of the major criminal corporations of our time. The more I read the more I see it in clinic: This is why every single woman comes in with infertility, acne, PCOS-like symptoms, endometriosis, and menopausal symptoms that wreak havoc in their life.
One of the greatest insults to my vision of happy humans living in optimal freedom for health is Monsanto. (Well, along with fracking, pipelines, deforestation…you can read a bit about this here). Monsanto was the first large companies that aroused a sense of injustice in my soul. As I become better read in the research industry & have gained more experience in environmental health, I am flabbergasted by the health concerns that slip through the cracks.
On last weeks post, I began to connect the widening of tight junctions and the rise of disease aka “Leaky Gut.” If you’re more curious about the “Leaky Gut” connection to your health issues, revisit there & the last emails I sent out.
Today, we are focusing on those little purple jigs in the diagram, the toxins sprayed on our food day to day.
Around 1996. The most researched correlating disease with leaky gut is the rise of Autism and the reversal of symptoms with leaky gut. Around this time, we also saw a major rise in Alzheimer’s, Autoimmune Diseases such as Hashi’s (Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis), & Parkinson’s.
In 1980, the infamous Monsanto came out with a Superbowl commercial for homeowners to begin using the poison for their driveway weeds. The next thing we know, Glyphosate becomes the standard of farming and we are having to modify our “food” in order to withstand the deadly killer.
After WW2, we had an excess of petrol. (side note: this is also the time that dairy was introduced as a new staple recommendation into the food industry) We decided to take that petrol, extract elements (N, P, K) and use it as fertilizer for plants. Then we had to come up with the ultimate killer because these plants were actually overfed and undernourished (much like our Great American Society today). They were catching diseases & infections left and right.
Well Glyphosate certainly blocks the shikimate pathway in all bacteria, protozoans, fungi, and algae. In medical school, I called this amino acid shimmy because this is the pathway that is required to keep the bacteria alive. As we know from prenatal care, folate is the vitamin required for the synthesis of life. The aromatic AA that the amino acid shimmy produces are essential for life also (Phenylalanine, Tyrosine, and Tryptophan. These are also the happy hormone precursors — Serotonin & Dopamine.
The reason that the government groups decided this was okay was because it is blocking it for the plants’ bacteria, not ours. Well, can that be fully true? We don’t really know. Recent research has shown that our bacterial genome plays a greater role on health that we could ever imagine. Knowing that they play a major role in tree and plant communication, it only makes sense that they play a major role in cellular communication.
We do know that the World Health Organisation has stated warnings that glyphosate may be cancerous. Many countries have chosen to ban this. We also do know, due to Dr. Zach’s research, that when the colon cells become isolated due to leaky gut they go rogue and cancerous. When they separate from their fellow colon cells, they become sick and replicate to try to make friends. We all need community for health, even our colon cells 😉
Even Yale has jumped on board correlating rogue gut bacteria with autoimmunity (Naturally, their answer was to inject antibiotics, and there has to be a better answer than that). I tend to look at the Human Microbiome Project, which you can find me geeking out about that on my cleanse videos.
Health coaches & diet fanatics really make it quite complicated by trying to identify the perfect alimentary choices. We don’t need to go back to the caves and cavemen to find perfect health. We simply need to look at when we began to see the rise of disease. Between the 1950s & 1980’s food became even faster. The processes developed were for mass production and began taking the health out of foods. If you are looking at health The rise of the slow food movement is the way to go. I know personally, I do not handle wheat or gluten well. But when Jill Stansbury makes her home ground wheat and flax bread, I can eat that all day long all week long.
Without addressing the bacterial imbalance & the membrane health, we cannot heal the host (you!).

One of the major internal battles I have is impatience with seeing a huge rocking impact on what I do daily in the world.
